SO NEAR, YET SO FAR!
March 14, 2012A fantastic day was had at the Area Contest, with the band coming away with third place in the third section, and hence just missing out on a place at the National Finals. Playing off the dreaded number one draw, the Band put in a good performance of Philip Harper’s ‘Olympus’ – with not one player coming off stage wishing they could have a re-run. And whilst winners Bream Silver overtook us playing 4th, the band retained 2nd place until the final performance of the section, from AW Parker (Drybrook) Band, who pipped us to 2nd place and a trip to the finals.
Not Such a Bad Thing
But
with a few issues to resolve this year, not least the on-going saga of
negotiations with the council regarding getting back into the rebuilt
Narisa Hall, then in hindsight maybe 3rd place is not a bad place to
come, even if it means we miss out on promotion straight back the
second section by just one point!
